Skin Potions!
I have never been one to pay particular attention to my
skin, neither have I really had a skin-care regime; I just ‘go with the flow!’
I like applying make-up, any day, any time! I tell myself
as long as I can slap something on and give the illusion of a good, ‘glowy’ and clear skin, I have got no ‘wahala’;
but ‘Nah!’ I have learnt what is underneath that pile of makeup is quite
important to take care of too.
I am all-in with using natural products on the skin: tomatoes,
potatoes, aloe-vera, cucumbers, eggs, honey… The list goes on. I still do, but
lately I have been leaning to-wards the under-listed products and they have
made my Melanin ‘pop’ even more.😍
For some reason I used to feel if I don’t have makeup on,
the ‘sky will fall’. Lol.
Lately, I am embracing my clear, radiant, bare-skin like ‘kilode?’😊
Also the ‘Naija’ weather made
an honest naturalista of me😧. Kai! The heat can fry your brain talk-less of the foundation on your face, I have
steered-clear of a lot of makeup, in fact barely any makeup; and my children
are grateful for this. Lol! That means “mum gets ready on time”…Hehehe!
In a nut-shell, I started a routine last year, and it has
worked pretty well for me.
So here we go!
Garnier Skin
Active Micellar Cleansing Gel Wash.
I have used quite a few face-washes;
this is not particularly my favourite, but it gets the job done. It does not overly dry-out my skin [which I
like]; rinses-off easily; does not irritate my skin, and leaves my face
cleansed, soft and fresh. Plus, it does not have a fragrance [in case you are
sensitive to that].
I use it twice-a-day, in the morning and at night. I apply a
pump or two, massage it in-to my skin and rinse with warm water.
Garnier Skin Active Micellar
Cleansing Water:
I have been using this for over 2 years and I absolutely love it! It takes off my makeup like magic.
My eyes are quite sensitive, but this works very well_ it does not irritate them at all. You can use it in cleaning around
your eyes and your lips.
I use the Simple Micellar Cleansing Wipes, then I use this to take-off my makeup with
a cotton-pad, before using the Garnier Face Gel.
Nope! Garnier ‘aint’
sponsoring this [yet! 😉] They just happen to work well for me.
This is my second tube of this face-product, and it has
been a game-changer.
It ‘triples’ as a face-wash, scrub and mask. Awesome!
It leaves the skin feeling soooo fresh and soft.
Y’all know imma oily-skinned gal with large pores
and few ‘black-heads’? This, does the trick_ controls my ‘oil’/shine and
reduces my pores.
I use this 2-3 times-a-week as a face-mask; on other days I inter-change
it with the next product about to be mentioned as a face-wash and a face-scrub.
Garnier SkinActive PureActive 3 in 1 Charcoal
Garnier SkinActive PureActive 3 in 1 Charcoal
Garnier SkinActive PureActive 3-in-1 Clay:
The same idea as the one above, but in ‘Clay’; this product
makes my skin super soft , smooth and fresh.
It works pretty well on oily-skin; exfoliates well; minimises
break-outs, and black-heads.
Did I mention it leaves your skin looking soft and fresh? Oh
yes it does!
Would I recommend this… yes!
Would I re-purchase? Yes!
OM*! This is by far one of the best cleansers I have used, especially
if you have got acne, or are prone to it.
Since I started using this, I get less break-outs [even at that time of the month!😲].
It gets under the pores and really cleans it. I use it in the mornings and in the evenings, and
it gets all the makeup, dirt and grease off.
Do note it does sting_ it will feel like your face is on fire [a bit], but as time goes on, you would not feel it as such.

One of my best skin products; I absolutely like, and
absolutely recommend it, and will absolutely repurchase. J
Neutrogena Alcohol-Free Toner:
At first I did not see anything special about this toner.
Now, I use it a lot! Especially after using products with alcohol that causes my skin to feel dry, I require some-thing to ‘prep’ my skin before
I start ‘loading-on’ the serums.
So after using the cleansing-lotion, I use this to remove
any other trace of dirt or make-up [rarely see any]; while my face is still ‘wet
with the toner’, I apply my next face product.
It works quite well when I follow this process.
It feels fresh on the skin and it smells good.
Would I recommend? Uhmmmm!
Would I repurchase? Uhmmmm!
[Trying-out another, called Skin Doctor Toner_ I should do well to keep you updated
on it].
O.K., now to the skin-care part… we are all but done with
all the cleansing and exfoliating. Your skin is now prepped for it's dose of goodies 😀
This is the best thing that has happened to my skin!
I started using this product late last year [2017], and I
can sure tell the difference. From then, I have been totally ‘hooked’. Its
effect is almost immediate. It leaves your skin looking really soft, smooth and
rich... yep rich! It is so alluring; you can feel and see your
skin glowing, like ‘some-thing out-of-this-world’ was added to this serum. I like how quickly it gets absorbed into my
skin, and when you apply it, it is not at all greasy or oily.
The only ‘wahala’ is the price.L😏
The only ‘wahala’ is the price.L😏
It fills-in fine lines on the face, evens skin-tone and
leaves the skin looking healthy, ‘happy’ and at its best. Another plus: it
makes your makeup go on smoothly [whether it is an over-the-counter, drug-store
buy or a high-end purchase].
I think it is safe to say this is one of Lancôme’s best
product; it is pricey [a bit on the ‘boujee side ) J
Would I recommend it? Most Definitely! [Especially if you are
a-O.K. with a bit of splurging]
Lancome Youth Activating Serum
Lancome Youth Activating Serum
Tasha Water Gel:
Ok first, a short story on how I got to get this moisturiser 🙇:
So I was at a Sephora-shop_ I actually went there to get the Fenty Foundation many had been raving about [a story for another day], when I decided to get a Mattifying Primer, I had tried ‘tonnes’ of primers and had not been really impressed with many of them. I asked one of the employee at Sephora for a really good Mattifying Primer.
I was encouraged to “Try this!” I had.
“Oh, try this one…“ My response: “Oh, I’ve got that.”
“O.K., how about this?“ Yep!
“And this one, it's really good for oily-skin!“ Uhmmm, that one did not really do much for me, I’ve tried that as well.”

She probably got a bit stuck on what to recommend. I do not
recall what happened, but she referred me to another lady
[she was certainly more mature, had really good skin with less makeup on😲].
I said, “Hi! Would you please recommend a really good mattifying face-primer? I have tried the few your colleague suggested.

What she said completely changed my perception...
You want to know what she said?
(‘Oya’ beg, beg, beeeeegggg
me! ) Hehehe!
O.K.!
She said, with a smile, “Gurrlllllll…
Embrace your oils! Embrace your natural-oils. Don’t try to stop it! Embrace it!
Mind you, this advice was coming from a much older lady,
whose skin was glowing and dancing ‘Shaku’ from a distance. 😂
I let her words sink-in, and then she told me what I already
knew [but probably did not attach as much value prior?]. She asked if I use a
moisturiser. I said "not really, I do use a serum though". “Nah” she said, you want a water-based moisturiser. She tried one on
the back of my hand: I was ‘pronto’ sold on it.
That was how I got
the Tacha Water Gel. Story not exactly necessary, but you know how we do it!J
This has changed my makeup game big-time!
I apply a pump of the serum, let it soak-in, then I apply
one pump of the Tacha… gel as a moisturiser on my face and neck.
There is a hint of gold pigment in it that is very pretty,
and it is translucent.
I do like this product ; I use it in the mornings, only before
I apply my make-up.
I do recommend it! (but for the price😶)
This is really good stuff, me likey!
‘Combos’ as a serum, moisturiser with S.P.F.
It feels rich when I apply it; it dries fast and leaves my skin
very moisturised without it looking greasy; it gets absorbed quickly; and my
skin looks radiant and ‘soft’.
I also like the fragrance. I use this some mornings before
going to the gymnasium or when I intend to go make-up free.
Price point, obviously better than the Lancôme. :)
Recommend? yep yep!
Recommend? yep yep!
Lancôme Visionnaire Advanced Multi-Correcting Cream:
I got this in a set with the Genefique serum; it was a very
good deal!
It does make my skin look radiant, plus, I only require a
little bit.
Nothing particularly fantastic about it, although I like it
under my makeup .
Would I repurchase? I do not think so!
Recommend? Uhmmmm
so so!
Lancôme Visionaire Advanced Multi-Correcting Gel in Oil:
This was also part of the set with the Genefique serum, but
I do prefer this to the Correcting-cream.
I use this at night after using the serum, and I wake-up with
my skin feeling [I want to believe looking] refreshed. I have noticed a
difference using this product, texture and wrinkle-wise [especially on my fore-head].
Great stuff!
Repurchase? Oh yes!
Recommend? By all means!
Lancôme Genifique Yeux Light Pearl Eye Illuminator:
Oh my goodness! This has helped my ‘puffy-eyes’_ I have dark-circles under my eyes, and this has slightly reduced it. It has
no fragrance, and it is not irritating.
I also like the applicator [tear-drop shaped], helps with ‘massaging
the under-eyes’.
I use this after cleansing my face and after applying the
serum; it is light in consistency, but it is so ‘refreshing’. I also enjoy the ‘cooling-effect’
of the steel-tip [on the applicator].
I use it in the mornings and at night.Lancome Genifique Pearl Eye Illuminator
Okidoke!... So what is/are your skin potions? 😉
Thanks for stopping by!
